- You only have to do a PDP if you get an initial educator license in a new license category.
- If you already have a professional license in elementary education (or any other teaching subject area) you will receive a professional educator license in special education and NOT need to do a PDP. However, you may choose to renew all teaching licenses using a PDP as opposed to six semester credits.
- You receive an initial educator license ONLY if you add a new category (say, become a principal) and would have to do a PDP for the newly added category (principal) if you work as that new category (as a principal).
